THE
APPALACHIAN
REBUILD
PROJECT
The Appalachian Rebuild Project (TARP) is a program under the non-profit organization, United Carolinas Cavalry.
Our Mission and History
Our journey began with three individuals working on relief efforts after Hurricane Helene. As we witnessed groups constructing tiny homes for temporary shelters and rebuilding permanent homes and businesses, we recognized a critical need for someone to collect and organize the next-phase materials—ensuring they were ready and accessible when needed. We opened a warehouse in the Piedmont area, creating a hub to collect and distribute materials for the 126,000 homes in need of rebuilding and repair.
At TARP, we provide free building materials to nonprofits dedicated to rebuilding homes and businesses affected by Hurricane Helene. Through our collaborative efforts with those rebuilding, we help individuals and businesses return to their homes and livelihoods as quickly and efficiently as possible, fostering community recovery and resilience.
We partner with manufacturers, builders, suppliers, and designers to divert unsellable, discontinued, and other new or gently used interior building supplies from landfills or storage to nonprofits rebuilding homes and businesses. Our focus is on materials such as flooring, lighting, cabinets, sinks, and other essential home components. By supplying these materials, we help streamline the construction process.
Through community collaboration and generous support, TARP is a vital resource in the rebuilding process, helping communities recover and rebuild.
